Cooling and climate projects rarely fail because of the machine. They fail at the interfaces: ventilation, electrics, water treatment, fire protection, permits. Heidinger plans in-house, builds the systems itself, builds the control cabinets itself and installs with its own teams. One point of contact instead of six trades waiting for each other.

What is possible

Nine building blocks that work together.

A plant rarely needs just a chiller. Usually there is ventilation attached to it, a water circuit, heat recovery and a control system that holds it all together. Heidinger builds these blocks itself and matches them to each other.

Chillers and heat pumps

The right machine for each application, from 5 kW to 2 MW, up to +85 °C as standard. Available with low-GWP or natural refrigerants. When time is short, the fast lane option brings considerably shorter delivery times.

Free cooling systems

On many days of the year the outside air is enough to cool the circuit. Depending on system temperature that saves a great deal of electricity, with the compressor switched off.

Process ventilation and machine extraction

Precise process temperature control, process supply and process-specific supply and exhaust air, designed around what actually happens on the shop floor.

Central supply and exhaust air

Cooling, heating, filtering, humidifying, dehumidifying. One system for all areas instead of many separate units.

Pump station and water treatment

Distribution of hot and chilled water, thermal storage, water treatment and filtration. Also for special applications such as ultrasonic baths or cooling laser machines.

Cleanrooms and precision measuring rooms

Class ISO 9 to ISO 4 to ISO 14644-1, in new buildings and in existing ones. Full service from planning through qualification to technical certification.

Heat recovery

Waste heat from the process is used rather than cooled away: for heating, hot water or the next process step. Cold recovery during regasification is possible too.

Self-sufficiency and storage

Combined heat and power units, adsorption and absorption cooling, photovoltaics and energy storage, plus backup systems as blackout protection.

EXOBOX

The complete plant in a container, pre-assembled in Heidinger's own container yard. It arrives ready to run, saves space inside the building and meets the legal requirements from day one.

Series

EXZELLENZ GT: heat pumps from in-house production.

The in-house series, manufactured at the Mühlacker site, as an air-to-water or water-to-water version. Modular and expandable between 35 and 500 kW per unit. The natural refrigerant R290 has a GWP of 3; R513A is available as an alternative.

Air-to-water: heating capacity at 45 °C flow and −12 °C ambient, cooling capacity at 6 °C flow and +38 °C ambient. Water-to-water: cooling capacity at 8 °C flow. Controls

EXOGATE holds the system together.

Heidinger's own control system ties the existing building services together across manufacturers and shows where energy is being lost. For non-residential buildings in Germany this is no longer optional: above 290 kW, section 71a of the Buildings Energy Act requires building automation with digital energy monitoring.

Vendor-independent
BACnet MS/TP, Modbus RTU and TCP, M-Bus and KNX PL-Link, plus analogue signals at 0 to 10 V or 4 to 20 mA. Existing equipment stays where it is.
Everything in view
Operation via a 7-inch touch display in the cabinet door, with a system diagram and all operating states. Trend recording included.
Peak loads and forecasting
Peak load management on the generation and the consumption side, wear forecasting for compressors, fans and pumps, plus automated suggestions for operating mode and system temperatures.
Remote service, secured
Controller and interface sit in their own protected network; remote service runs over a secured connection and every other access is blocked. Smart grid interface built in, 5G modem optional.

Cleanrooms

From ISO 9 to ISO 4, even during ongoing operation.

The classes in ISO 14644-1 define how many particles per cubic metre of air are permitted. The lower the class number, the cleaner the air. Heidinger fits out cleanrooms in new and existing buildings, measures with its own equipment and qualifies the rooms before validation.

Besides air purity, precise temperature control, defined humidity and low sound pressure matter. Containment rooms of levels S1 to S3 are possible for laboratory and research environments; for medical use, DIN 1946-4 and VDI 6022 apply.

Who will be my contractual partner?
Heidinger. We arrange and accompany the project; quotation and order run through the works in Mühlacker. Nothing changes for you in terms of who to call: you still call us.
Which capacities are possible?
The range runs from 5 kW to 2 MW, up to +85 °C as standard. The in-house EXZELLENZ GT series covers 35 to 500 kW per unit and is modular. Larger plants are designed individually.
Which refrigerant is used?
Wherever possible the natural refrigerant R290 (propane) with a GWP of 3, alternatively R513A with a GWP of 631. R290 comes with a tested safety concept: gas detection and explosion-proof ventilation in the machine compartment, warning and alarm units on the unit and via remote transmission.
My building is existing stock. Is that even possible?
Yes, and it is the rule rather than the exception. Heidinger explicitly works on conversions in existing buildings and on refurbishing old plant, including cleanrooms while the business keeps running. If there is no room in the plant room, the technology comes as an EXOBOX into the yard.
What does section 71a of the German Buildings Energy Act require?
Non-residential buildings with more than 290 kW of rated heating, air conditioning or ventilation capacity had to be equipped with building automation and digital energy monitoring by 31 December 2024. Among other things, this requires continuous monitoring of consumption, an open interface to the data and the detection of efficiency losses. EXOGATE meets this and corresponds to automation level B under DIN V 18599-11.
How quickly can a system be up and running?
That depends on the project. Two routes shorten it considerably: the fast lane option on the machines, and the EXOBOX, where all components are pre-assembled and which is ready to run within a few days. No building site inside your plant, no interruption to production.
Is there public funding?
Often yes, particularly for heat recovery, heat pumps and efficiency measures. Heidinger advises on eligibility and supports the application. That is part of the consultation and not a separate order.
