What is possible

The whole line from one source.

An extrusion line is a chain of stations: the extruder plastifies the material, the tool shapes the profile, and downstream it is calibrated, cooled, hauled off, machined, cut to length and stacked. Bernhard Ide builds every one of these stations in-house. That is why it all fits together in the end, mechanically as well as in the controls.

A single machine, a further stage or a complete line. Everything is modular and can be retrofitted later.

01

Extruders

Single screw extruders with an open, sturdy design. Digital, self-optimizing temperature controllers and a heating and cooling system keep the process consistent.

Co-extruders

Mobile second extruder for sealing lips, colour stripes and multi-layer profiles. On a movable carriage, for horizontal and vertical extrusion.

Pumps and filters

Melt pumps keep the material flow at the tool consistent, without pressure fluctuations. Filter systems can be added as needed.

Calibration units

A sturdy, modular base frame with a widely adjustable calibration mount. Frequency controlled vacuum pumps provide a stable vacuum and run quietly.

Series

Nine sizes, from 20 to 120 mm.

The extruder defines what the line can do. The IDE range runs from the small laboratory and special profile machine up to 400 kilograms per hour. Which size fits depends on profile, material and output. That is exactly what we clarify with you up front.

Tooling

The result is only as good as the tool.

IDE builds its extrusion tools in-house. The material flow is simulated in CAD beforehand, then the toolmakers do precision work. Even highly abrasive or corrosive compounds are no problem.

Profile and co-ex tools
Single and multi-colour, with steel calibration and channels that allow quick colour changes.
Multiple dies
Two profiles in parallel from a single die, clipped together before the haul-off. A cable trunking with its cover, for instance.
Punching systems and water baths
Designed to match the tool, so the whole section stays coordinated.

Controls

Generation 4, on one touch screen.

All units run the same operating software and integrate into existing production lines. Connected via Powerlink or OPC-UA, password protected, data synchronisation over FTP or USB.

For downstream units. 50 editable programs in the basic version, on a saw for example profile length, saw stroke, quantity and drop signals. Easily retrofitted.

Beyond the new line

Still reachable after handover.

An extruder runs for decades. What happens after delivery therefore often matters more than the purchase price.

Used machinery
Tested by IDE technicians, overhauled and adapted to current requirements. For some tasks the more economical and more sustainable choice than a cheap new machine from a competitor.
Retrofitting
Extend an existing line by further stations or move the controls up to Generation 4 instead of buying new.
Spare parts
From their own stock, for IDE machines far in excess of the prescribed ten-year period.
Commissioning and training
Final acceptance at the factory in your presence, installation on site, training of the operating personnel in-house or at your facility.
Repair and maintenance
Toolmakers and technicians restore tools and machines, at your site or at the factory.

Our role

One contact, from the first call to final acceptance.

We are not a catalogue reseller. We know extrusion from decades of work in the industry, clarify the task with you and bring you together with the right factory.

01Clarify the need. Which profile, which material, which volume, which degree of vertical integration.
02Put the line together. A single machine, a further stage or a complete line, together with the factory in Ostfildern.
03Guide the project. From quote through acceptance and installation to training the operators.

Besides extrusion we source other industrial equipment, refrigeration and air conditioning among them. Just ask.

Frequently asked

What prospects ask us up front.

Which extruder size suits my output?
As a rough guide: up to around 20 kg/h the small sizes ME 20/5 and ME 30/5 are enough, for 35 to 110 kg/h the ME 38/5 and ME 45/5 apply, above that ME 60/5 to ME 120/2 with up to 400 kg/h. What decides, however, is the profile, the material and the die, not throughput alone. We clarify that with you and the works beforehand.
What does 25D mean in the processing length?
D stands for the screw diameter. 25D means the processing unit is 25 times as long as the screw is thick. A longer processing length gives the material more distance to melt and homogenise, which matters with demanding compounds. The IDE range runs from 20D to 37D.
Which plastics can be processed?
PVC-U, PVC-P, PVC-UE, PC, PA, PE, PP, PS, ABS, PMMA and TPE, plus further compounds. Highly abrasive or corrosive materials are possible too; the dies are designed accordingly in-house.
Do I get a complete line or single machines as well?
Both. IDE builds every station of the line itself, from the extruder through die, calibration, cooling and haul-off to punching and stacking units. You can order a complete line, extend an existing plant or replace a single unit.
Can a new unit be integrated into an existing line?
Yes. All units run on the same Generation 4 operating software and can be integrated into existing production lines via Powerlink or OPC-UA.
Are used machines available?
Yes, IDE carries used machines and overhauls them at the works. For a first step or additional capacity that is often the more economical route. Talk to us and we will check current availability.
How does working with you proceed?
In three steps: we clarify the requirement, put the plant together with the works in Ostfildern and accompany the project from quotation through acceptance and installation to operator training. Bernhard Ide becomes the contractual partner for the delivery.
